I get bored in art museums, and prefer art that’s quick, bold, and gives me wide open opportunities to brood over my own conclusions about its meanings.
Ed Ruscha has been my favorite since I saw his work in the Lilac Suite in the Barn on Copper Hill at Twin Farms in Vermont (whew!). Ruscha is an American artist as fearless and raw as the landscape of his work. The black and acrylic & oil on canvas was such a badass juxtaposition to the country floral wallpaper and spindly four-poster bed. Like the rest of the property, it’s a symphony of beautiful contradictions!
